1Before you start
- A Tilio account with the center owner role. Only the owner can connect or disconnect Zoom; teachers and assistants use the connection the owner set up.
- A Zoom account for your center. A licensed plan (Zoom Pro or higher) is recommended: free Basic accounts end meetings with 3 or more participants after 40 minutes.
- A center connects one Zoom account, and one Zoom account can only host one meeting at a time. Tilio warns you when a new Zoom session overlaps another one.
2Adding the app
The integration is always added from inside Tilio:
- Sign in to tilioclass.com as the center owner.
- Click your avatar (top right) → Account settings → Connected apps.
- On the Zoom card, click Connect.
- Sign in to your center's Zoom account if asked, review the permissions and click Allow.
- You are returned to Tilio and the Zoom card shows Connected with the Zoom account email and plan type.
Permissions requested: user:read:user (identify the connected account and its plan), meeting:write:meeting, meeting:read:meeting, meeting:update:meeting and meeting:delete:meeting (manage the meetings Tilio creates for your classes). Tilio does not access recordings, chat, contacts or meetings it did not create.
3Create a Zoom meeting for a session
- Go to Academics → Timetable and open a session (or click New session).
- Under Session format, choose Online class.
- Select Create new Zoom meeting. The meeting is created immediately and the join link appears.
- Click Save changes to attach the meeting to the session.
- A single session gets a scheduled meeting at the session's date, time and duration.
- A repeating series shares one recurring meeting with no fixed time.
- If the Zoom account already has another online session at the same time, Tilio shows a warning.
- Use Create another room to replace the meeting, or Open room / Copy link to test it.
4Use a fixed Zoom meeting for a class
- Go to Academics → Classes and click the camera button (Online room) on the class card.
- Click Create Zoom meeting. Tilio creates a recurring meeting for the class.
- For each session that is held online, edit the session and choose Online class → Use the class's online room.
The room is never attached to sessions automatically, so in-person sessions stay in person.
5Start the class as host
In the Timetable, click the online session and then Start class (host). Tilio requests a fresh host link from Zoom and opens the meeting as host in a new tab — teachers don't need the Zoom account password. Students are admitted automatically once the host has started the meeting.
6How students and parents join
Each student's parent portal link shows a Join button next to online sessions (highlighted when the class is about to start or in progress). Students join with the normal Zoom join link — no Tilio or Zoom account is required. Students do not authorize the app.
7Removing the app
You can remove the integration in either of these ways:
- In Tilio: Account settings → Connected apps → Zoom → Disconnect. Tilio immediately deletes the stored Zoom tokens and account details.
- In Zoom: sign in to the Zoom App Marketplace → Manage → Added Apps → click Remove next to TilioClass. Zoom notifies Tilio and the stored connection is deleted automatically. We recommend doing this as well if you want to fully revoke access at Zoom.
After removal:
- New Zoom meetings can't be created and the Start class (host) button stops working until you connect again.
- Meetings already created stay in your Zoom account, and their join links keep working until you delete them in Zoom.
- Join links saved on sessions remain visible in Tilio; to remove them, edit the sessions or use Classes → Online room → Remove link from upcoming sessions.
8Data and privacy
Tilio stores the Zoom user ID, account email and plan type, encrypted OAuth tokens, and the ID and join link of meetings it creates. It sends Zoom only the meeting topic (session or class name), time, duration and settings — never student names or other student data. Full details are in our Privacy Policy.
9Troubleshooting
- “Please connect Zoom using the Connect button in TilioClass” — you started from the Zoom Marketplace. Connect from Account settings → Connected apps instead.
- “Only the center owner can connect Zoom” — sign in with the owner account.
- Meetings end after 40 minutes — the connected account is on Zoom Basic; upgrade to Zoom Pro.
- “Zoom reports that access has expired” — disconnect and connect Zoom again.
- “This Zoom meeting wasn't found” — the meeting was deleted in Zoom; create a new meeting for the session.
